Quality Control Inspector
SUMMARY:
- The Quality Control Inspector checks the specifications of incoming and outgoing products by conducting tests, monitoring production processes and identifying malfunctions. They work in various manufacturing and production settings, such as the quality control department, assembly lines and laboratories.

QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reads blueprints and specifications.
- Monitor operations to ensure that they meet production standards.
- Recommend adjustments to the assembly or production process.
- Impact, test, or measure materials or products being produced.
- Measure products with rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
- Operate electronic inspection equipment and software.
- Approve or reject raw materials or finished products with respect to quality standards and record supplier performance.
- Remove all products and materials that fail to meet specifications.
- Report inspection and test data such as weights, temperatures, grades, moisture content, and quantities inspected.
- Operate electronic inspection equipment such as coordinate-measuring machines (CMMs) and 3D scanners.
- Prepare and submit reports to Quality Management.
- Assists production personnel in promoting ideas for controlling wasted materials and time.

Responsibilities and Authorities

SUMMARY:
The Straighten and Cut Technician ensures that customer expectations are met, and quality products are always produced by running multiple machines efficiently and being punctual and productive.

- High School Diploma required.
- Previous experience in an industrial, team manufacturing environment is desired, but not required.
- Mechanical aptitude is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to eventually run multiple machines.
- Ability to follow proper safety protocols.
- Ability to determine if machinery is working properly based on specifications for expectations

- Uses requirements found on job sheet to accurately produce a product that meets specifications and expectations, especially putting importance on meeting due dates.
- Clears the line from previous jobs to ensure that there is no mixing of previous and current products.
- Sets up machines according to information on the job sheet; ensures that machine meets standards.
- Verifies that materials brought from inventory are correct.
- Performs first piece and in-line inspection of material being straightened and cut.
- Correctly uses measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers.
- Completes all required paperwork and all reports in the system.
- Accurately reports scrap and production efficiency.
- Communicates effectively with management, lead operators, and other personnel regarding problems, due dates, difficulties with machine operation, etc.
- Grinds dies when required.
- Reworks rejected parts as required.

Engineering Department
Process Engineer

4. Skills
- Hands on mechanical aptitude and ability to work with basic hand tools and machine shop equipment.

- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and offer feedback to customers on ways to make parts easier to manufacture.
- Familiar with centerless grinding of small diameter wire.
- Able to work independently with limited instruction and supervision.
- Use of precision measuring tools, both manual and computerized.
- Ability to effectively communicate with peers, subordinates and customers both verbally and written.
- Capable of running many projects at once and able to track and record results on a timely basis.
- Proficient in use of SolidWorks computer aided drafting program.
- Analyze data from production and implement better controls and procedures to optimize processes.
5. Experience
- Previous experience in a mechanical / industrial manufacturing environment required.
- Previous experience in a team environment desired.
- Knowledge of disposable medical devices, especially wire related products, is a plus.
6. Responsibilities and Authorities
- Reports to the Director of Engineering.
- Work hours: flexible (40 hours a week).
- Assist Contract Review Team in interpreting customer prints and specifications.
- Develop new and improved manufacturing methods to increase yields and decrease scrap.
- Work with Engineers from customer companies to determine the criticality / practicality / manufacturability of dimensions and tolerances on drawings and offer cost-effective alternative ways to manufacture parts.
- Review existing procedures and update as needed to improve efficiencies.
- Source and recommend new components for upgrading and automating equipment.
- Prepare and execute validations on new or upgraded equipment.
- Write, execute and document experiments performed to obtain a product that meets customer specification or to verify a new process or piece of equipment used in production.
- Interface with production workers when problems arise from trying new procedures or when working with new alloys.
- Work with vendors to obtain needed components or services in order to meet customer specifications.
- Write or update in house specifications and work instructions.
- Review customer drawings and specifications to assess feasibility and estimate time needed to produce parts.
- Both domestic and international travel required as needed to visit customers, vendors or attend trade shows or seminars.
- Design new machinery for production use.
- Obtain input from machine operators and work with machinist on new concepts and designs for manufacturing tools and fixtures.
- Document all equipment set ups and write work instructions for new or modified equipment used in production.
- Work with vendors to obtain needed machine parts and supplies to keep production running.
- Troubleshoot equipment and work with vendors to repair and improve performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviews and thoroughly understands product functional and design specifications.
- Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
- Designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment.
- Conducts quality assurance tests.
- Performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of, and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
- Performs defect analysis utilizing experience in statistical quality process analytical methods.
- Supervision of the calibration program to ensure compliance to the regulatory requirements.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of reports; manages documentation control systems.
- Reviews returned material and verifies customer complaints; develops action plan to address discrepancies; communicates with customers as required.
- Communicates and resolves QA issues with operators/technicians on a day-to-day basis.
