Wytech Coronavirus Update

March 21, 2020 –

Dear Customers and Suppliers,

As part of NJ Governor Murphy’s Executive Order #107, Wytech qualifies under the “essential services” category as a manufacturer of critical components to the medical device industry.

Wytech’s operations will fully continue while maintaining social distancing, vigorous cleaning, and encouraging employees to stay home if they have symptoms or have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for Covid – 19.  Those who can work from home are doing so now.

We would appreciate feedback from each of you as it relates to your ongoing operations, any changes in deliveries, production scheduling, inventory builds, or any other significant changes that might impact Wytech so we can plan.

We will continue to provide updates as needed.

Thank you and be well,

Michael J. Casalino

Status of Whitford PTFE –

Advisory Notice AN-19-005

December 9, 2019 –

Whitford Corporation, a supplier of PTFE will be discontinuing ubiquitous formulations that will impact medical device components and products.  Wytech is aware of the situation related to the Whitford supply of these formulations of PTFE. We are in contact with our PTFE suppliers to identify which coatings used on Wytech manufactured products will be impacted by the proposed changes. Whitford’s supplier will cut off all availability of the PTFE by July 4, 2020.

It is Wytech’s understanding that Whitford will procure a 3-year supply of the PTFE raw material.  They are committed to working with customers to continue to supply the materials and assist in finding alternative formulations during the transition period.  In the coming weeks, we will update this message as new information becomes available.

Statement Regarding 232 Steel Investigation/Tariffs on Steel and Aluminum

Updated: March, 27, 2018

On March 8, President Trump signed official proclamations implementing tariffs on steel and aluminum products, under section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act, as amended. During the signing, he announced tariffs of 25 percent on foreign steel and 10 percent on foreign aluminum, except for imports from Canada and Mexico. He announced that these actions were taken in response to steel and aluminum articles “imported into the United States in such quantities and under such circumstances as to threaten to impair the national security of the United States.” These tariffs went into effect on March 23, 2018 for all countries that are not exempted.

At this time, Wytech is working with our suppliers to determine the potential impact on Wytech as well as our customers.  We are asking our suppliers to research the implications of the new tariffs and submit to us in writing a list of all materials and prices that may be affected.  Therefore, the exposure and impact to Wytech and our customers has yet to be determined.  Wytech appreciates the support of our customers and we will work closely with our suppliers to assess and minimize the impact of this change.  Your Wytech Customer Service Representative will be providing periodic updates.  You may also check back to this web page in the coming weeks for further updates.
